Presentation at The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles
I am honored to have presented a copy of “One of Humanity’s Darkest Hours: The Untold Story of the Holocaust” to Mark Katrina, the Director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles. This moment represents our shared commitment to education and the fight against hatred, antisemitism, and racism. I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a distinguished organization in preserving history and promoting understanding.

Bring light to humanity’s darkest moment… One of Humanity’s Darkest Hours- The Untold Story of the Holocaust is a book for all people. This book exposes one of the darkest periods in history, the Holocaust. It doesn’t matter what your race or religion, or whether you even practice a religion. It is the story of hate and scapegoating in its worst form fomented by a madman craving power and false glory in the name of national pride. It is also about the resilience of a people historically oppressed for thousands of years, and the message of hope which must emanate from these hardships. As is common to many ethnic groups around the world who have been oppressed and denied their political, social and personal rights throughout the ages, this book focuses on what is the latest and the longest lasting campaign of hate against a single faith. I became aware of this book when I met co-author, Bill Tinglin, at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Long Island in Glen Cove, NY. Bill has been a prominent figure on the human rights scene for many years, and as he delves now into the history and the victims of the Holocaust, and his fellow authors have produced an amazing piece of work-one that needs to be shared far and wide among people who need to understand this piece of history in order that it never occurs again. Like many other books, it abounds with illustrations and meaningful text, but it does not stop there. This unique book makes use of current QR technology by allowing readers to use their QR code readers on their mobile phones to find additional information-not by following links to other sources, but linking the QR codes that are embedded in the illustrations to bring up online commentary and video presentations related to the individual pictures. This provides for wide expansion of the understanding needed when reading this type of book. It brings personal stories attached to the illustrations in the words of Holocaust survivors. Despite having been brought up in a Jewish Home, I have gained so much from reading this book. Yes, much of it is extremely depressing and emotionally demanding, but failure to understand and to be ready to fight this scourge of humanity which again rears its ugly head can only lead to repetition of the events of the past, events and situations which humanity needs to put behind us. I highly recommend this book and encourage its readers to work to get the book included in the curriculum and reading material at every school level. Our children must be made aware of the past as it truly existed if they ought to face the future with hindsight and understanding. History cannot be changed or altered, and those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Congregation B’nai Sholom-Beth David, Never Again Committee There are not enough stars to place in my review of this book. You have created a “Living Textbook” that will surely become the paradigm for Holocaust Education. Colorful artwork is very impactful and the use of QR codes, linked directly to survivor testimony is truly amazing!
